When people think of water heaters, they typically think of large tanks that sit behind the closed door of “that one closet that nobody opens” or in a dark corner of the basement. While that is true, all older water heaters and a good portion of newer water heaters do in fact have tanks, tankless water heaters do not. In fact, it looks nothing like a traditional water heater.

Rather than storing warm water in a tank, tankless water heaters approach heating water as an on-demand service. When you turn on the faucet, high-powered burners heat the water as it runs through a heat exchanger on the way to your sink. In fact, since the water heater only heats the water when it is being requested, tankless water heaters are also known to be incredibly efficient.
